Nowadays you really should have a webcam that does better than record and broadcast video at 640x480 with 800x600 as the minimum. You can of course use certain cameras and camcorders as a webcam.

The Hue webcam

My best buy is : the Hue webcam. You can adjust the resolution up to 800x600 (and further) plus it has a 1.3-megapixel sensor, 10x zoom and a manually adjustable focus. AMCAP is a simple video recording program that you can use to video yourself (I wonder why?) or more importantly to make demos and record repairs, the insides of your PC or whatever. My video contacts report good sharp definition and quality.
