[edit] Free stuff from around the globe

[edit] Free books

There are masses of free books, mostly non-copywrite, available for download. Don't discount older non-fiction: there are some interesting perspectives and genuine scholarly information to be found. Some are also surprisingly well written. For modern sounding classics - try Plato. His writings, when translated, are crystal clear, interesting examinations of moral issues that are as relevant today as they were 2000 years ago. The account of the trial and death of Socrates in Phaedo is very moving.
